Fees, Rebates & Policies
Medicare rebates:
Medicare rebates are available under the Australian Government’s Better Access to mental health care initiative. This requires a referral from a paediatrician or psychiatrist or a referral and Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from a General Practitioner. The referral must specify that the client is experiencing an appropriate mental health condition. More details about the Better Access initiative are available here.
The Medicare rebate for treatment with a Mental Health Social Worker is $85.20.
Individual Counselling and psychotherapy in person or via Zoom $190.00 per 60 minute session. This leaves a gap fee of $104.80 per session.
Fees for Court Reportable Family Therapy as ordered by the Family Court Western Australia Individual and joint sessions are $260.00 per 60 minute session.

If an appropriate referral and/or MHCP are provided, then the Medicare rebate can apply, leaving a gap fee per session of $174.80. Note that under Better Access a patient is eligible for up to 10 rebateable sessions per calendar year. The Medicare rules do not allow the rebate to apply to family therapy or couples therapy, only to therapy with individuals.

Cancellations:
If you need to cancel your session, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. The time has been set aside for you and cannot be offered to another client within 24 hours.
When sessions are cancelled with a minimum of 24 hours' notice then there is no charge to you.
If you are an individual counselling client and cancel your session with less than 24 hours' notice then you will be charged for 80% of the session fee.
If you are a Family Court counselling client and cancel your session with less than 24 hours' notice then you will be charged 100% of the session fee.
The reason for the difference is that extra reading of Court documents, preparation and consultation with legal personnel is entailed prior to Court reportable therapy sessions and this time cannot be recouped if sessions are not attended or cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice.
